# How CoffeeJay researches machines

Our machine guides help you compare documented information. The current model lists are not our own hands-on tests or a ranking of the best machines.

## What kind of assessment are you reading?

- **Hands-on test:** only when the machine has actually been used; the page identifies the model, conditions and observations.

- **Hands-on inspection:** a limited encounter, not a long-term test.

- **Research-based assessment:** comparison of documented characteristics without our own test results. This is the basis of the current machine guides.

- **Manufacturer or retailer information:** model information or a retail reference; not evidence of quality or an independent assessment.

## Sources and comparison criteria

Check specifications against the manufacturer and the manual for the exact version. Where supported, we compare brewing method, controls, space, milk preparation, cleaning and accessories. A brand-level source does not automatically verify every property of every listed model.

## How to read model lists

A bestseller-list entry describes that retailer and that moment. It is not a CoffeeJay test score. Retail links open search results where indicated; check model code, regional version, current price and availability at the retailer. Atmosphere images are not evidence of product testing.
